I first became interested in metals at age sixteen whilst studying for my BTEC national diploma in 3D Design. Having had this taster I decided to pursue my passion for metals which culminated in me gaining a BA (hons) in Applied Arts in 2007.

My tool of choice is the hammer as it enables me to stay in close contact with the material by feeling each placed blow manipulating the metal, I enjoy the physical effort and observing each transformation by a culmination of blows. Working in large scale metals I find the transformation of cold hard industrial materials, by using heat and brute force, into intrinsically aesthetic beautiful forms inspirational.

This body of work has enabled me to find an identity with the material.It has so many possibilities by bringing together elements of texture, colour, light, shade and fun!
